The Municipality of Syros-Ermoupolis held targeted meetings and presentations at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 in London from November 4 to 7, promoting the island’s multifaceted tourism offerings to journalists, bloggers, travel agencies, and industry representatives.

Participating within the South Aegean Region pavilion and the Hellenic Tourism Organization (EOT) exhibition space, the municipality completed a busy program of pre-scheduled meetings, highlighting Syros as a rising and high-quality destination in the Aegean.

Visitors and tourism professionals showed keen interest in the island’s natural beauty, cultural uniqueness, alternative activities, picturesque villages, and gastronomy, with particular focus on emerging destinations that are less saturated, positioning Syros as an attractive option for new travelers.

The delegation was led by Deputy Mayor of Tourism Ioannis A. Voutsinos, accompanied by entrepreneur and Tourism Committee member Giannis Voutsinos (Zanaki). Key meetings included discussions with journalists from international outlets such as The Sun, The Times, The Mirror, and National Geographic, as well as niche travel bloggers and tour operators from the UK, US, Italy, Australia, India, and Eastern Europe.

Additionally, the delegation met with airline representatives from Aegean Airlines and Sky Express to explore flight connections to new European destinations. Deputy Mayor Voutsinos also met with EOT UK Director Eleni Skarveli to discuss collaboration opportunities for promoting Syros in the British market ahead of the upcoming tourism season.

“Through careful preparation and targeted contacts, we aim to maximize the benefits of our participation for both the destination and local tourism professionals. Participant data will be shared with the municipality and Tourism Committee to facilitate follow-up, media trips, and partnerships,” Voutsinos said.

The municipality emphasized that its WTM participation is more than promotional—it is a strategic tool for international outreach and tourism development. By leveraging partnerships and professional engagement, Syros aims to strengthen its reputation as a destination combining culture, quality, and authenticity in the Aegean.
